Japanese-born, Los Angeles-based artist and ceramicist Shoshi Watanabe creates timeless pieces that blend Japanese techniques with California aesthetics. To celebrate the launch of Hojicha, we asked him to design the perfect vessel for enjoying this special Japanese tea—though it’s equally suited for other teas, soups and snacks. With a glaze that reflects Hojicha’s rich, reddish-brown hue, this versatile mug embodies expert craftsmanship, balance and harmony, mirroring the qualities of Hojicha itself.
